Emmy's favorite Animal
One of Erica's friends from work at BYU invited us to their house for Dinner, so we went last night. They live on the outskirts of Heber, and she's got several animals. They have a Horse, 2 dogs, 3 goats, and 3 kittens.
We took Emmy around to see the animals. First we took her to see the kittens. They're 8 weeks old - little fluff balls that run around and play. They frightened Emmy at first. We took her hand and showed her how to pet them. We let her pet one on her own, and she promptly grabbed one by the top of neck and squeezed. It's a good thing kittens have extra skin there. We took her hand away and I think we startled her, such that she didn't want to touch the kittens again. She liked watching them though.
Next we took her to see the goats. She liked the goats more than the kittens. She got brave and reached out and touched them on their snouts.
Next we took her to see the horse. We walked through where the dogs were to get to the horse, and the dogs followed us out. Emmy touched the horse, but that was the limit of her enthusiasm about the horse. But the dogs were running around while we were all with the horse, and Emmy thought they were hilarious.
Emmy just laughed and laughed at the dogs. We had a good time watching her laugh, and then we headed inside. The dogs followed us, with Emmy laughing all the way. Once inside (the dogs came inside too), we set Emmy down on the floor. One of the dogs came and started playing with her... the dog would kiss her and chase her around a bit, and Emmy would shriek with glee and turn and have the dog chase her some more. We were kicking ourselves for not bringing the camera.
At one point the dog got down into a pouncing position to play. Erica's friend got nervous about this (the dog is much bigger than Emmy - probably 60 lbs) and quickly called the dog over. The dogs were so obedient... so this one turned and headed over and sat down next to Erica's friend, and turned to watch Emmy. Emmy looked at the dog, and started crawling back and forth, right in front of the dog, trying to get the dog to chase her again. She went back and forth probably four or five times, and then the owner told the dog, "okay!", and the dog went back to playing with Emmy again. Belly laughs and glee shrieks from Emmy... priceless moments.
Emmy was in heaven.

Dogs are much better than cats.
