Gronemans in the Double-L
Now that we've had a chance to recover from our vacation, we can post about our trip to Loma Linda.
It was a fairly quick trip - we left for LL on Friday afternoon, and returned home Monday night. Emmy was very good for the traveling, except that she had a hard time falling asleep in the car. Erica and Chad were pretty good too, but got tired.
The whole Groneman clan was extremely tired while we were there. Emmy was so excited about being in California with girl cousins roughly her age, and with so many toys! So she didn't take her naps like she should have. Chad and Erica were tired from Emmy waking up at 4 AM, and late nights prior to the trip, so they went to bed earlier than any person in the Nelson household had ever even thought about going to bed.
Emmy loved being with her cousins. She was a little on the grouchy side because she wasn't taking her naps, but she loved following Kiera and Lydia around and playing with their stuff. She loved interacting with them.
It was fun to watch Kiera be such a nice cousin. We were giving Emmy a bath Sunday morning, trying to get her ready for Church. Emmy was a bit stressed, and did not want to be in the tub or touch the water (temperature was fine though), and was letting us know about it. Kiera came in and said, "You're so brave, Emmy!" We thought that was so nice of her. After Church, we were in the back yard playing, and we put Emmy in a swing. Kiera wanted to push Emmy, so we let her. Emmy loved being pushed by Kiera, even though Kiera would push her, let her swing once, and then stop her so she should push her again (see video).
Emmy loved watching Lydia and would follow her around. Lydia can walk, and Emmy would crawl after her. They had a hard time sharing, especially on the first day. We found out that Lydia is very possessive of toy strollers. Emmy had a hard time grasping the concept of not taking toys from Lydia when Lydia is playing with them. But overall, I think it was a fantastic experience for Emmy, and she learned from it.
