news in Kiera's life:
Kiera went to the doctor this week and got her first round of shots. I think it was harder on her mommy than it was on her-- but she sure cried : (
She now weighs in at 10 lbs 3 oz and eating is her favorite hobby so she's kinda chunky.
As predicted by the doctor, she had a fever for 2 days after her shots. She got to try cherry flavored children's tylenol for the first time. It was so cute to see her little face when we gave it to her: "hmmm- that's not milk....wait...that tastes good!! give me some more mom!"
I broke down and cut her hair yesterday. yes, that's right- first haircut before 2 months old. she just had one funny looking mohawk. She looks a little more normal now.

For those of you who didn't hear, the day after Steve told his boss that he will be leaving in september to go to dental school he got a letter in the mail saying that he qualified for a permanent position making significantly more that what he makes right now. FINALLY steve could have a real job making good $-- but of course it no longer applies since he announced he is leaving. A bit frustrating I'd say. We just have to keep reminding ourselves how much better we'll be once he is a dentist.

Oh, the poor tortured kid! I hated it when you kids had to get shots. They just don't understand why they get hurt. [pout] One question: Why did Steve announce at his work in January he's leaving in Sept? Just couldn't wait to share the news he was accepted? It's a shame that. Sounds like he could have been making good $$ for a few months. Ohwell...live and learn. Overall good things are happening which is great.

I know your pain! Yesterday Jacob had to have blood drawn to test his thyroid levels (we did it in Dec., but they didn't get enough blood to run the test). Once the nurse put the tournicate (sp???) on his arm, he just started wailing-- he apparently remembered what happened last time, which is a new but not necessarily good development. He screamed as she searched both arms for veins and then screamed even harder as she dug around in his arm with the needle trying to find one. After what felt like an ETERNITY, she finally gave up and called in another nurse-- one who's drawn blood on Jacob in the past. The first nurse asked her if she would like to try, and she said, "No! I know those veins!" She eventually did try and was successful after what felt like another eternity. I've sworn up and down that I will NEVER do that again! I'm going to make sure that Brigham is around next time to do it!

In answer to dad's question: Steve decided it would be the honest and right thing to do to let them know his intentions. Too bad they won't reward him for being such a truthful employee eh?

Poor little jacob!! I took Kiera's band-aides off this evening and she cried just as hard. She had bright red marks where they were. Next time I'm not going to let the nurse put bandaides on!

Yer mom has skin reactions to bandaids and other medical sticky stuff. Maybe Kiera got it from her.

Babies and needles! A bad combination...but worse when they cant find the dumb vein! Sorry. Give your little ones a kiss from Grandma
