I decided it's time to complete my geek look. I went to the eye doctor today, and they told me I need glasses for looking at things up close (such as computer screens). I went to LensCrafters, so I could have the glasses for tomorrow. But when I was finished, they told me I won't be able to get them for 1-2 weeks. I think their "in about an hour" thing refers to the time it takes once you give them the prescription to when you're given the receipt. It also cost a lot more than I expected. Part of that was because I got 2 pair - one for home, one for work. But even so, it cost twice as much as I was expecting. And I just turned down vision insurance two weeks ago. Oh well.

HEY FOUR EYES!!!!! I've never been to anyone but a real eye doctor so I dunno how these "in about an hour" things work. With my insurance, glasses still cost me around $50/pair because the insurance only covers so much.

That's a lot better than $350 /pair.

YEOUCH! I've never paid anywhere near that much for glasses in all my life.

You were robbed! What about their ad that says 2 pair for $99?

That's the glasses. Now if you want frames for that glass...... Actually, my guess is he got socked for the exam.

Actually, it would have been more. The frames were about $185, and the type of lenses that are for looking at computer monitors were $290 each (which was $90 more than the basic pair), but the lenses were 50% off.

I did find out that I have a very basic vision insurance included with both my health & dental insurances. It's a maximum of 30% off, but it can't be combined with promotions (such as 50% off lenses), which doesn't make sense to me. I'll go down and have them figure out which way is cheapest for me.
