2 funnies

#1  today I was playing pretend with Lyida.  I was the kid and she was the mom putting me to bed.  Like she does I said "mom, I need a drink of water!!"  She looked around and then came and leaned over and gave me a kiss and I was laying on the bed.  She after the kiss she left a big ol' spit wad on my lips.  Lucky for me: a drink.  I was was laughing to hard to be grossed out. 

#2.  Nursery in our new ward is very...different.  There are 5 kids and the 2 nursery leaders who are about 80 years old.  They have been in the nursery for 17 years.  The funny thing about the way they run the nursery is that they color the pictures FOR the kids.  They have all of the coloring pictures pre colored, cut, and today even laminated with the kids names on them.  I guess that is magnifying your calling : )

But what are the nursery kids supposed to do for THEIR callings now?

They color the pictures for the kids?!? Why not let the kids stay home and just let their own attendance count for the kids'? :-\

I'm looking forward to your periodic updates of Lydia's experience with the 80-year-old nursery leaders. Pretty comical, actually! :) Although, I must say I am impressed that they laminate the handouts. True dedication! Them serving for 17 years reminds me of a lady on my mission who had been a nursery leader for 25 years (and was still going strong)!!

a little of everything

Lots of fun happening around here. Kiera going through daddy-withdrawls after steve had to start school again. Poor little lady. Kiera has started trying to draw pictures of people now (see photo above). Kiera has officially mastered the VCR. She knows how to work it and what all of the buttons do. (I'll bet there are some 70 year olds who don't know as much as she does at age 2). Lydia has been enjoying a few firsts lately. We gave her rice cereal last night for the first time which she was apparently more than ready for (see video), we've put her in a doorway jumper which she likes although she hasn't figured out the jumping part yet. Oh, and for those of you who have been to NM lately, you'll appriciate this: Steve and I plan on applying to a government program that is somewhat like the military in that they pay for your schooling; but instead of steve being in a branch of the military, he will owe the government years of his life serving in one of th...
