How's your elevator etiquette?
I've decided that I have poor elevator etiquette. Everywhere I go it seems like people are always holding elevators for me. I think to myself, "I'm a good 15 feet away from the elevator. I'll catch the next one." Then someone will hold the doors for me, not even knowing if I'm going to get on the elevator or not. I've also noticed when I try to hold elevator doors, they usually won't re-open like they do when other people hold them. They just stay in spot until I let go, and they close. - I'm also not very good in crowded elevators. When I get in an elevator, I'm usually wearing a backpack, and I can't find anywhere that's out of the way. It seems like I'm always blocking someone.

Stairs. I avoid elevators. That's probably not quite as easy when you're going to the 173rd floor though.

It's good elevator etiquite to take your backpack off and put it on your feet. I'll hold an elevator door if I can tell a person is trying to get to the elevator. If they are just looking around and not hurrying, I don't even try.

Dora the elevator dispatch lady at the hospital knows me by name now. I've spoken with her plenty of times since the "emergency call" button on one elevator is where the "1st floor" button is on the neighboring elevator. Try it sometime...they love talking to people
