Mushrooms

The park south of us usually has a few edible mushrooms in the springtime. However, Saturday when Marilyn and I were walking there, a plethora of these mushrooms had sprung up from slight rain and warm weather...more at once than we had ever seen before. Anyway...we filled our pockets and have lots of mushrooms to eat! The curious side effect of these types of mushrooms is that if you drink alcohol within 3 days of eating these, you get violently ill. Dang.

There was at least twice this many that we didn't pick because they were too old. They are called inkcap mushrooms, and they disintegrate very quickly. For those of you who think we may die, we are safe. Kim has a book that shows what kind of mushrooms are safe, and this is a distinctive mushroom-easy to identify and it is safe.

Especially in spagetti or lasagna....anything with a tomato base sauce. Mmmmmm.
