Picnic up AF Canyon

Our new neighbors invited us to go with them yesterday afternoon on a picnic up AF canyon. We accepted. We threw some wood in the Jeep, gathered picnic stuff, made a quick stop at Walmart for some dogs & buns (Brett bought) then headed up the canyon (with our yearly pass anyone is welcome to borrow anytime). Just after the turnoff to Tibble Fork, we found a nice picnic spot with a table and firepit in among large trees at the bottom of some cliffs. Brett/Katie had made Strawberry/Mango/Rubarb pie...it certainly was delicious. None of us came away hungry, that's for certain. A good time was had by all and we all smelled like smoke afterwards. Thanks Katie/Brett! ...oh, the picnic spot was 10 minutes away from our house...we timed it.

I couldn't figure out why Brett and Katie would accompany you on a picnic with your new neighbors. It took me awhile to remember that they ARE your new neighbors!

we watched some rapellers coming off the cliffs. It was fun. I decided it is ridiculous not to use that canyon more often! On weekdays it isn't all that crowded. Were going to have to do that more often!

a little of everything

Lots of fun happening around here. Kiera going through daddy-withdrawls after steve had to start school again. Poor little lady. Kiera has started trying to draw pictures of people now (see photo above). Kiera has officially mastered the VCR. She knows how to work it and what all of the buttons do. (I'll bet there are some 70 year olds who don't know as much as she does at age 2). Lydia has been enjoying a few firsts lately. We gave her rice cereal last night for the first time which she was apparently more than ready for (see video), we've put her in a doorway jumper which she likes although she hasn't figured out the jumping part yet. Oh, and for those of you who have been to NM lately, you'll appriciate this: Steve and I plan on applying to a government program that is somewhat like the military in that they pay for your schooling; but instead of steve being in a branch of the military, he will owe the government years of his life serving in one of th...
