Happy Holidays!

Brett and I are here at the parents' house watching Dad put up Christmas decorations. We're doing a good job of cheering him on. We started thinking (dangerous, I know), and tried to think how Gift Exchanging was going to work this year. We couldn't think up how to do it, so we decided to take a vote.

Choice 1: Draw names
Choice 2: Everyone give a small gift to everyone else
Choice 3: Everybody give gifts to Chad
Choice 4: Everyone just give gifts to the older brother of your choice.

As tempting as options 3 and 4 are, I vote that we just draw names. Yeah. Draw names. We're all old enough and financially stable enough (other than perhaps those among us that are living off of student loans on the east coast. . . )that we should be able to handle a good gift for a sibling. Though that might be a little difficult to "draw" when we've got people in the family 2,265 miles away from each other. I'm sure we'll find a way.

Drawing names is best. I say Nelsons and dastrups count as 1 person each so if you draw them you just get something for the family.
Or... we could do as my in-laws have started doing and just do a rotation. This year we could get something for the person/family just younger than us and then next year the next person down the line, etc.. That way you would always know who you have for christmas all year long. So buff would buy for dastrups, chad for nelsons, me for bert, etc..

Perhaps that you'll all recall that we actually started doing the Nelson rotation last year. My vote is that we continue it, meaning that you get something for the sibling 2 below you (ie, we buy for Nelsons, Chad buys for Brett, Nelsons for Breanna, Brett for us, and Buff for Chad. Any opposed?

Lots of fun happening around here. Kiera going through daddy-withdrawls after steve had to start school again. Poor little lady. Kiera has started trying to draw pictures of people now (see photo above). Kiera has officially mastered the VCR. She knows how to work it and what all of the buttons do. (I'll bet there are some 70 year olds who don't know as much as she does at age 2). Lydia has been enjoying a few firsts lately. We gave her rice cereal last night for the first time which she was apparently more than ready for (see video), we've put her in a doorway jumper which she likes although she hasn't figured out the jumping part yet.
