I just checked the weather in Moab: 45 degrees at 9:37 am. I hope he didn't freeze to death on his birthday! Air mattresses are not noted for their warmth, even when the low is 70 degrees, and last night it was 29 down there! I'd be dead for sure! But they have their love to keep them warm...and hopefully that was enough!

Aaah vacation. Sounds like a good birthday to me. Just remember what it was like when you were in school during finals and sigh a big sigh of relief that you don't have to any more. That should make your birthday that much better.
