One thing you have going for you is that a Doctor can impace people's lives in a personal way much more than any other profession I know of....if that's any consolation.

Interesting article. Being a doctor is much more prestigious than being a high school teacher, but if that isn't an important issue, then, hmm.

I, for one, am extremely grateful for the sacrifices my doctors made to be prepared to save my life. I hope they find some sort of consolation in this.

Yeah, I have heard tales of Med students who married law students and sacrificed much to get their education so that they could live the "good life" later, and then when they are done, they cannot afford to even buy a home with all of their student loans...and they continue to scrimp in an apartment as they did through their education for years.
Major bummer! But there sure would be a lot of our family dead now without the great work of Drs. They can go to sleep each night and know that they made the world a better place for folks that they treat each day.

So thanks for an immeasurable amount of stress and headaches for our part Brigham and CK. We all appreciate the chance to be lazier than you.

I did some simple number-crunching last night, and yeah, if I were willing to work the hours that med school residents put into their residency, then sure, I could easily make 6 figures a year at my current pay rate, which as you may guess isn't fantastic.

Yep... I'm too lazy to do it.
