I just got home from my first day at work. It's been a year and a half since I worked last and it was tough to go back and leave my little Kiera. Kiera did ok with her daddy though and I'm glad (prayers work). I am the charge nurse at a nursing home with 60+ patients which is a little crazy to me especially because I have complete charge of the facility when I work in the evenings but I'm sure I'll get the hang of it. I work in an ugly run-down nursing home next door to Steve's VA hospital that is 7th day adventist (therefore everyone is vegetarian). It should be an interesting job

Is the nursing home 7th day adventist too? I'm surprised they made you charge nurse when you haven't worked there before. I guess I just don't understand this nurse thing. How often do you work?

Yeah, you told me how many hours a week but I cant remember now. Seems like it was 3 six hour days??? We are hoping that with your new time commitment you will still have time to blog. I think you are the best to do it, so we would miss your contributions extremely

I told them I would work between 1-3 shifts (8 hours each) per week, but they have me working 4 so far this week and wanted me to do 5.
Yes I am charge nurse-- charge of 82 patients, 5 other nurses, 14 CNA's, dietary, housekeeping, maintainance, and everyone else. I'm sure I can do it as soon as they train me. They wanted me to do it independently by saturday, but so far all we have been doing is paperwork and tours of the facility.
