Let's blame the police

Yesterday the police were chasing two known gang members, both with extensive crimial backgrounds and they had just committed a robbery. The chase was getting dangerous so the police called it off and a minute later the gang members ran a red light and killed a kid just waiting for his mission call and his roommate who was in college going into law inforcement. The parents of the kids killed say they don't blame anyone and forgive. The parents of BOTH the gang members are holding press conferences blaming the police for the death of the two boys. Here's the story.

A couple of days before that a family in Santiquin called police because a family member had a shotgun and was shooting. Police came at their request and tried to talk to the man. He aimed the shotgun at them and they told him 6 times to put it down. He didn't. They shot him. Now the family blames the police for killing him. Here's the story.

No wonder some of these folks are bad....their families don't want them or their family members to take any responsibility for their actions. Sure, sometimes police make mistakes, but these weren't those times. I'm tired of everyone in this world trying to blame something or someone else for their actions. It makes me sick.

Erica and I were just discussing this overall problem the other day, but in the context of schools. There is a growing problem where kids can do anything they want, and the parents will defend their kid even when they are 100% in the wrong. I'm all about sticking up for your children, but if your kid is in the wrong, they need to accept responsibility.

Of course, nowadays, even the oh-so-smart CEOs of major corporations don't know how to be responsible, and the authoritiies (gov't) shield them from the consequences of their actions.

That's the problem - everyone wants to do whatever they want, without the consequences, and the entities that are in place to make sure consequences happen are doing the reverse - shielding everyone & everything from the consequences.

I appreciated what the police chief said, that the people who are in the crime circles are the ones who are angry at police. Of course they would be! Society just makes me sick sometimes. I think the police are doing their jobs and are NOT in the wrong here.

Amen to that Dad...

When I was doing Macey's security, we were told that if we were ever chasing anyone who stole something and they started to run toward the street, we had to yell "stop" to them and we had to stop chasing them. Otherwise, if they got hit by a car, we were somehow liable for their injuries.

I always thought that was very very wrong.

And I think this is the same story.
