Today was a landmark day for the Dastrups. For the first time we had a child participating in the Primary Program in Sacrament Meeting! Benjamin was very nervous about sitting up on the stand and talking in front of everyone (having missed all of the practices in the chapel while we were in Utah), and when the big moment arrived, Benjamin peeked over the top of the pulpit and paused... and then proceeded to confidently recite his part ("Pray every day."). It was a proud moment for Brigham and myself. His singing during the program left room for much improvement, but perhaps that was due to the fact that he was trying so hard to wink at me!
Those poor Jehovah’s witnesses showed up at the door here again . They come here every few months or so. They rang the doorbell and my father-in-law (Craig) answered it. They asked if he'd like to talk about religion and he invited them in and said he'd love to. To make a long story short, he asked what makes the Jehovah's Whitnesses special and what was their "compelling doctrine". Their response was "well, we read the bible." Craig- "So do the Baptists, Catholics, and Mormons..... so what is special about your church" JW's- "we belive in Jesus Christ" Craig- "so do all of the Christians.... " JW's- "We preach the gospel" Craig- "Um... that still isn't original. Tell me why I should listen to you over anyone else" JW's- "Umm... I don't know..."
